Now, the ink holder mechanism is completely stuck to the far right and I can't move it manually. The following is what I discovered that cleared my error and now my printer is back to printing! Try this again and when you see the rocker arm go down, pull the power cord immediatley. Sony A600 At worse you could have burnt out the magenta print nozzles. The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam.Some where in the paper path a sensor is activated indicating paper jam so the printer will give off a 6A00 that is if it is not locked in position by some other jam condition.

It looks a little like the film on the bottom of the print head. The spring wasn't strong enough to over come the gluey ink and so the whole thing jammed up which is probably what the code means - jammed mechanism. They don't even ask for proof of purchase. Incidentally, I also have an IP4000 on my teen's PC but haven't had any issues with that printer.
The printer gives me a 5100 error message which says that the "type of printhead is incorrect. Thanks for the advice. Searched all over Canon's website and could not find out what error 6A00 was. would of been nice if canon had suggested your solution first.

I have blown air in and used isoprpyl alcohol to clean what I can, but can't get anywhere near the purge unit.
I even purchased the service manual and started taking the printer apart, but stopped when I had to start taking things off the motherboard.
